Typically, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) involves a fluent English speaker teaching English to students in schools, language institutes or workplaces.
A TEFL course equips you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to teach English.

The aim of these qualifications is to equip Candidates with the skills and knowledge to teach English to EFL learners in a range of EFL settings. Our TEFL has been designed to fully prepare you to teach both adults and children and it is regulated by Ofqual, the official qualifications regulator in England, meaning your training is the highest standard and internationally recognises.

Gatehouse Awards Level 5 TEFL Course (leading to Level 5 Certificate and Diploma) is available to Candidates aged 18 and over, who are working, or preparing to work, as teachers of English as a Foreign Language.

The qualifications may be undertaken as initial training for those whose current or desired job role requires them to develop skills, understanding, and knowledge of Teaching English as a Foreign Language, or as refresher training for more experienced practitioners.

There are no formal entry requirements for these qualifications; however, due to the nature of the qualification content, those undertaking the qualification must have a proficient level of spoken and written English, an ESOL International certificate CEFR C1 or C2 level.

You can choose one of the following three options:

All three options are completed 100% online and can be accessed anytime, anyplace, from a tablet, computer or a phone.
Our approved centres will also provide teaching observation (3 hours) and teaching practise (3 hours) sessions.
